Plano has scored another corporate headquarters relocation, this time pulling Daisy Brand away from its longtime home in Dallas. The Plano City Council approved a $500,000 economic development grant to support the sour cream and cottage cheese maker's move north.
The company plans to establish its new base of operations in a building at 5800 Granite Parkway. The facility will house corporate offices and likely include some research and development space. Financial details of the lease or purchase agreement have not been made public, but the grant is intended to offset costs associated with the relocation and job retention.
Daisy Brand has been a fixture in the Dallas area for decades. The move to Plano marks another win for the city's economic development team, which has successfully lured several high-profile companies in recent years. Plano officials have focused on attracting firms in the food, technology, and financial sectors, offering incentives to companies willing to make the short trek from Dallas or other parts of the metroplex.
The company did not disclose how many employees will be affected by the move, but the grant agreement suggests the company will maintain a significant workforce at the new location. The relocation is expected to be completed within the next 12 to 18 months.
