A new industry report shows that artificial intelligence has moved from a novelty to a necessity in real estate brokerages, with the last holdouts finally coming around. The study, which surveyed firms of varying sizes, found that resistance to AI tools has dropped sharply over the past year. More notably, the gap between mid-sized companies and large enterprises has all but vanished. Smaller brokerages are now deploying AI for lead generation, property valuation, and client communication at nearly the same rate as their bigger competitors.
The report credits this shift to several factors. First, the tools have become more affordable and easier to integrate into existing software. Second, the pressure to cut costs and speed up transactions has pushed even traditional-minded brokers to experiment. Third, early adopters have shared concrete results, such as faster response times and higher conversion rates, which have quieted fears about job displacement or impersonal service.
Still, the study notes that adoption is not uniform. Some firms use AI only for back-office tasks like drafting listings or scheduling showings, while others have built entire marketing funnels around predictive analytics. The biggest remaining challenge is training. Many brokers say they lack the time or know-how to get the most out of the tools. But with the resistance gone, the report concludes that the next phase will be about refining how AI is used, not whether to use it at all. The question now is which firms will turn early experimentation into a lasting competitive edge.
